The draws in the back don't follow the curves they just go straight back, the top is scribed around the curved part.the unit is attached the the sea. No dados or rabets ,nothing fancy, then go to ( fill in name of big box hardware store here), and get a set of glides, this is where it gets tricky! (I should've said buy glides first), the glides need to be 1 " smaller than the hole then the draw is the same size as the glide, glides are rated to hold a certain weight figure what is going in the draw and get glides that hold twice that! Help is only a google search away. I love this setup and have emailed with him about it! I believe the rear cabinets were built to the height of the top of the pad that sits on top of the stock shelf.įor the benefit of the community - and so we don't have to bombard him with messages - here is what he wrote me a couple months ago:ĭraws are just boxes 3/4 " front and back,1/2" sides, then (for this purpose) 1/2" bottom. But I'm a bit confused - it looks as if the back drawers are much taller than the underseat space in my 2000 EV Weekender.is that a mod to make the rear passenger bench taller? Your weekender is gorgeous! I just bought one so seeing this is very inspirational. Posted: Wed 4:34 pm Post subject: Re: Turning our MV into a full camper The Tortuga has morphed a little more since I last posted, I put an ARB rooftop tent on and Changed up the box and basket configuration, but the best thing is we are camping every possible time we can. The seat covers cam from amazon ( not the South American one, the one you click on! ) my wife got them and they were cheap! The console we traded with itsamoto, I've seen them on the samba for sale maybe contact itsamoto he may have more info. I really like your seat covers, Can you tell me where you found them? Also where Can I find that front cubby? Posted: Tue 10:07 am Post subject: Re: Turning our MV into a full camper So I got around to making spacers and installing them (6"x 3/4" with a 2" hole) and the Tortuga no longer has that saggy arse look, I still have to crank up the front if need be but when she's full loaded she seems to even out, we have a big camp trip coming up so I'm going to see how she sits once all is in and on, but maybe new shocks and springs are in her future ? Posted: Sun 11:19 pm Post subject: Re: Turning our MV into a full camper So I finally got around to building the cot for the front, it's much the same as the rear cot but I used 2" pvc all round and hung it using para cord, I'll make some sleeves for the toggles on the outside soon, but I had to get this done for a camp trip this weekend to The Dalles in Oregon, so still one or to kinks to iron out but as you can see my 6 year old son, ( who doesn't weigh 50lb!!!), loves it. Posted: Tue 6:49 pm Post subject: Re: Turning our MV into a full camper I'm eagerly anticipating your front cot build.
